These proposals were presented during his speech at the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 held in New Delhi.
As per the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Revanth Reddy emphasized that India must not miss the ongoing AI revolution as it did with previous industrial and manufacturing revolutions. He noted that while India has excelled in the services and software domains, it has yet to develop global technology products.
He underscored the need for India to transition from being merely a user of global platforms to becoming a producer and owner of AI technologies.
The Chief Minister proposed that India should take a leading role in all aspects of AI, including GPU chip manufacturing, green energy, data storage, platforms, and core AI languages, applications, and AI-driven services.
In outlining a comprehensive strategy for India's AI leadership, he suggested the creation of a National AI War Room, with contributions from both the Centre and states, to keep pace with rapid developments in AI.
Revanth Reddy reiterated that Hyderabad is ready to host and establish such an AI War Room if it receives the necessary approval.
Additionally, he recommended the formation of a world-class AI University with campuses throughout India, focusing on original research, as well as urgent efforts to manufacture GPU chips and integrate India into the global AI supply chain, which includes securing rare minerals.
He also proposed conducting a national assessment of AI-related job displacement, alongside substantial investments in re-skilling and job creation.
Revanth Reddy advocated for the establishment of a National AI Fund to bolster start-ups and inspire youth-led AI innovation.
The Chief Minister called for the formation of an India AI Council, similar to the GST Council or NITI Aayog, to serve as a principal body for AI policy and coordination. He also suggested the creation of a dedicated AI Ministry to formulate laws aimed at preventing misuse of AI, ensuring national security, and using AI for social justice and poverty alleviation.
Moreover, he proposed that India should organize AI Summits every six months in various cities to sustain momentum and global collaboration.
He invited both global and national institutions to collaborate with Telangana in promoting AI innovation and governance.
