Seoul, Feb 19 (NationPress) Generative artificial intelligence (AI) has risen to the forefront as the most sought-after offering in the new subscription app category for consumers in their 20s and 30s, according to a recent poll released on Wednesday.
Conducted by the market research firm Macromill Embrain, the survey of 1,000 adults revealed that 94.8 percent of participants have engaged with subscription services via applications, as reported by the Yonhap news agency.
In the survey, commissioned by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industries, it was found that among individuals in their 20s, the leading preference for a new subscription service was generative AI, at 20 percent, closely followed by health-related services and home appliances at 18 percent.
For respondents in their 30s, the most popular choice was services for household chores, at 20.5 percent, with generative AI coming in second at 19.5 percent. When combining the preferences of both age groups, generative AI emerged as the most desired service overall.
In contrast, participants aged 40 to 60 indicated a preference for health and home appliances, which garnered a total response rate of 25 percent, according to the survey.
Among the most frequently used services, video streaming platforms took the lead, with 60.8 percent of respondents utilizing them, followed by shopping memberships at 52.4 percent and bundled internet and TV products at 45.8 percent.
Approximately 39.8 percent of respondents indicated they subscribe to three to four services, while 33.9 percent reported having one to two subscriptions. The majority of participants, 30.5 percent, noted that their monthly spending on subscriptions was below 30,000 won (about US$20.8), while 14.9 percent stated they spend over 150,000 won monthly on subscription services.
