Aizawl, March 4 (NationPress) Mizoram's Chief Minister Lalduhoma stated on Tuesday that his administration is taking significant measures to tackle cybercrime and the improper use of social media while ensuring that offenders face justice.
During his Budget presentation in the Assembly, the Chief Minister highlighted that a focused approach has been adopted to combat cybercrime, restrict the misuse of social media, tackle the dissemination of misleading information, and impose legal penalties on offenders.
"The Cyber Crime Police Station is actively engaging in promoting cyber safety awareness to enlighten social media users. These efforts aim to act as a robust deterrent against cybercrime and encourage the public to utilize the internet and technology safely," he elaborated.
While unveiling the ₹13835.42 crore budget for the financial year 2025-26, the Chief Minister expressed that Mizoram seeks to leverage the prospects arising from India’s swift growth and progress alongside the nation towards the objectives of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) and ‘Viksit Mizoram’ (Developed Mizoram).
Lalduhoma further mentioned that due to ongoing consolidation efforts, 80 percent of the outstanding healthcare bills have been settled.
Additionally, he indicated that the remaining healthcare bills are anticipated to be resolved by the conclusion of the current financial year (2024-25).
"The government is also diligently pursuing the implementation of the Mizoram Universal Healthcare Scheme, an upgraded and comprehensive cashless initiative starting April 1 this year, which is expected to greatly enhance healthcare coverage," he noted.
The Chief Minister informed the Assembly that the state government has launched its flagship program, "Mizoram Bana Kaih (Hand holding)," aimed at fostering sustainable development. For the fiscal year 2025-26, ₹350 crore has been allocated, marking a 75 percent increase from the previous year’s budget of ₹200 crore, he stated.
