24 Nations Confirm Their Participation in the First Kho Kho World Cup

New Delhi, Dec 15 (NationPress) Australia, USA, New Zealand, Germany, England, Poland, and the Netherlands are among 24 nations that have confirmed their participation in the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup, taking place at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium and Noida Indoor Stadium from January 13-19, 2025.
A total of 24 countries from all six continents will feature 41 international teams in this week-long mega event, stated Sudhanshu Mittal, president of the Kho Kho Federation of India, who also chairs the World Cup organizing committee.
There will be 21 men's and 20 women's teams from Europe, Oceania, Asia, Africa, North America, and South America vying for the world title, which will follow a league-cum-knockout format, he added.
According to Mittal, 615 players and 125 support staff will participate in this global event. Each team will consist of 15 players, a coach, a manager, and international technical officials.
The USA is the only representative from North America, while England, Germany, the Netherlands, and Poland will represent Europe. The USA will send a men's team only, whereas England, Germany, the Netherlands, and Poland will send teams for both genders.
Australia and New Zealand will represent Oceania, with Argentina, Brazil, and Peru representing South America. Australia will send both men's and women's teams, while New Zealand will only have a women's team.
Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and Uganda are Africa's representatives. Kenya and South Africa will send teams for both genders, while Ghana will only have a men's team, and Uganda will send a women's team.
India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, South Korea, and Sri Lanka have confirmed their participation from Asia. Notably, Indonesia will send only a women's team, while all other Asian countries will send both men's and women's teams.
Mittal mentioned that all teams have provided their scheduled arrival dates. Sri Lanka is set to arrive on January 10, while the rest will arrive on January 11 at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi.
The host country, India, will offer accommodation, catering, and transport services to all participating teams throughout the World Cup championship.
International technical officials will assist the host country with main ground operations, including refereeing, scoring, timekeeping, and more, Mittal added.
Arrangements for necessary technical equipment, such as video scoreboards and poles, are currently underway. Additionally, numerous volunteers, both sports-specific and general, have been recruited and trained for this grand event, Mittal concluded.
