London, June 5 (NationPress) Fast bowler Jofra Archer is being considered for a spot in England's second Test against India at Edgbaston, according to national selector Luke Wright. He mentioned that a clearer picture of Archer's fitness will emerge when Sussex faces Durham in a County Championship match at Chester-le-Street in two weeks.
Archer has not participated in red-ball cricket for four years due to various injuries affecting his elbow and back. He was scheduled to make his red-ball return for the England Lions against India A, but a thumb injury sustained while fielding for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025 has sidelined him.
"Jof's also trucking along really well actually. The plan is for him to play a few second-team matches, gradually increasing his workload with Sussex. The goal is for him to feature against Durham during the first Test, which begins in Leeds on June 20.
"If everything goes well, fingers crossed, he should be available for the second Test. Like any bowler, he must continue to meet daily fitness goals without setbacks.
