Patna, Jan 28 (NationPress) The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA), led by president Rakesh Tiwari, is set to launch the Bihar Rural League (BRL) aimed at discovering skilled players from every district in Bihar who have not had the chance to participate in district or state-level cricket competitions.

This initiative will mark Bihar as the first state to establish a Rural Cricket League focused on uncovering talent from the more secluded regions of the state.

BCA president Rakesh Tiwari emphasized that the Bihar Rural League (BRL) seeks to identify promising players from villages, educational institutions, and block levels, integrating them into the cricketing mainstream of the state. Players aged 13 to 23 are eligible to take part in this league. Those selected will be given opportunities to represent Bihar on larger platforms.

"The Bihar Rural League (BRL) is our effort to discover and develop gifted players from rural areas, schools, colleges, and block levels who have not had the chance to exhibit their talents. Through this league, we aspire to integrate them into Bihar's cricketing landscape," stated the BCA president.

The league will kick off with talent scouting initiatives throughout all districts to select players and create 16 teams. These teams will compete in a district-level tournament structured in a knockout format.

Each district will host 15 matches, comprising 8 league games, 4 quarterfinals, 2 semifinals, and a final. A total of 570 matches will be conducted across all districts, with district finals featuring a celebrity, a renowned cricketer, and a brand ambassador.

Post the district-level contests, outstanding players will form district teams to compete in the Bihar Rural League Super League. This segment will include 38 teams divided into 8 groups, utilizing a league-cum-knockout structure.

Groups with 5 teams will play 10 league matches each, while those with 4 teams will engage in 6 matches. One team from every group will progress to the knockout phase, culminating in 4 quarterfinals, 2 semifinals, and a grand final. The Super League will see a total of 79 matches, bringing the cumulative total for the Bihar Rural League (BRL) and the Super League to 649 matches. Approximately 10,000 players are expected to participate in the league.
