New Delhi, Sep 6 (NationPress) Nominations for the BCCI elections are set to be accepted on September 20 and 21, as announced in a notification by Electoral Officer A.K. Joti on Saturday evening. Earlier, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia informed IANS that these elections are part of the agenda for the 94th Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled for 11:30 am on September 28 at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai.

According to the complete election timetable disclosed by Joti, elections will take place for five office-bearer positions: president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer. Additionally, there will be elections for one member of the Apex Council and two members of the Governing Council.

The election process commenced on Saturday with state association members being invited to submit applications nominating their representatives. The deadline for these applications is 8:00 PM on September 12, after which the draft electoral roll will be published on September 13.

Any objections can be raised on September 14 and 15, with the final electoral roll expected to be published on September 19. Nominations will be accepted on September 20 and 21, followed by scrutiny on September 22, with the valid candidates' list announced that evening at 4 pm.

Candidates can withdraw their nominations on September 23, with the final list of contesting candidates being published the same day at 2 pm. The polling and results announcement are set for September 28, coinciding with the AGM.

The notification from Joti has urged all state association members to comply with all deadlines and documentation requirements to ensure their nominated representatives' eligibility.

As the National Sports Act has yet to be implemented, the Lodha Committee guidelines will govern these elections. The establishment of a new IPL Governing Council and Women’s Premier League (WPL) panel is also included in the AGM’s agenda.

Currently, after former cricketer Roger Binny became ineligible to continue as BCCI President following his 70th birthday on July 19, Vice-President Rajeev Shukla has been overseeing operations. Shukla, who has held the Vice-President role since late 2020, is the senior-most office-bearer in the board’s current regime.

Alongside Saikia as secretary, Rohan Gauns Desai and Prabhtej Bhatia serve as joint secretary and treasurer after their earlier elections this year.

Interestingly, the date of the BCCI elections and the AGM in Mumbai coincides with the day the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup final is scheduled to take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Should India reach the title match, it’s likely that none of the BCCI office bearers will be present in Dubai.
