Mumbai, April 6 (NationPress) In an exciting turn of events that delights fans globally, fast bowling ace Jasprit Bumrah has rejoined the Mumbai Indians camp ahead of their IPL 2025 showdown against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, set for Monday at the Wankhede Stadium.

Bumrah has been sidelined since incurring a back injury on day two of the fifth Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. This setback meant he could not bowl in the second innings, leading to Australia winning the series 3-1.

After being advised to take a break for five weeks, Bumrah began his recovery process at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, which also caused him to miss India’s white-ball matches against England and the victorious Champions Trophy campaign in Dubai.

The five-time champions announced Bumrah's return to the camp on their social media, captioned, "Ready to roar".

Sources informed IANS that Bumrah linked up with the five-time IPL champions on Saturday evening after participating in a practice match at the CoE earlier that morning and receiving the green light from the medical team.

"Having someone of Jasprit’s caliber back in the MI camp is a significant advantage, and naturally, the entire team is thrilled. However, it remains uncertain whether he will participate in the game against RCB tomorrow," the sources added.

"Ideally, Bumrah should take the field, but the final decision will depend on his own choice and discussions with the MI coaching staff led by head coach Mahela Jayawardene," the sources elaborated.

The clarity on Bumrah’s availability will be officially provided when MI conducts its pre-match press conference at 5:30 pm on Sunday, before commencing their practice at the Wankhede Stadium from 6-9 pm.

Since his IPL debut in 2013, Bumrah has been the cornerstone of MI’s bowling attack, accumulating 165 wickets in 133 matches for the franchise.

The only season he missed was in 2023 when he was recuperating from a back injury that required surgery. Bumrah’s comeback is a significant lift for MI, currently sitting in eighth place with two points from four matches, as they strive to secure victories for a chance at the playoffs.
