Abu Dhabi, Dec 16 (NationPress) The Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has secured the largest paycheck at the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini-auction taking place at the Etihad Arena. The three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) signed him for an astonishing Rs 25.20 crore. Meanwhile, the reigning champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, acquired Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer for Rs 7 crore.
Green was registered as a batter due to an oversight by his manager during the player auction registration, surpassing the previous record held by fellow Australian Mitchell Starc, who was purchased by KKR for Rs 24.75 crore in the IPL 2024 auction.
Making his IPL debut in the 2023 season, Green was picked up by the Mumbai Indians (MI) for Rs 17.5 crore, making him the second-most-expensive overseas player in IPL auction history and the most costly Australian player. Recently, he played for RCB in the IPL 2024 after a trade from MI, amassing 255 runs at a strike rate of 143.25 in 12 innings and taking 10 wickets in 13 matches with an economy of 8.61.
In the capped batter category, David Miller from South Africa joined Delhi Capitals at his base price of Rs 2 crore. Other notable players like Prithvi Shaw, Sarfaraz Khan, Devon Conway from New Zealand, and Jake Fraser-McGurk from Australia went unsold.
In the all-rounder segment, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured Wanindu Hasaranga from Sri Lanka for Rs 2 crore, while RCB signed Venkatesh for Rs 7 crore. Other all-rounder prospects like Gus Atkinson from England, Deepak Hooda from India, Rachin Ravindra from New Zealand, and Wiaan Mulder from South Africa remained unsold.
