Jhansi, April 8 (NationPress) Teams from Telangana, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Madhya Pradesh, and Manipur celebrated victories in their respective matches on Day 5 of the 15th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2025 held here on Wednesday.
In the opening match on Wednesday, Hockey Telangana triumphed over Goans Hockey with a score of 5-1 in Division ‘B’. Surya Prakash Potluri (18’), Aiyappa PR (21’), Peddinti Neeraj Kumar (23’), Rohit Singh (28’), and Raju Talla (29’) each contributed one goal for Hockey Telangana. In contrast, Thrishul Ganapathi H (19’) netted a consolation goal for Goans Hockey. This victory propelled Hockey Telangana to second place in Pool A, boasting two wins out of three matches thus far.
In another match, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey secured a decisive 6-0 victory against Hockey Mizoram in Division ‘B’. Deepak Yadav (4’), S. Mohammed Yaseen (6’), Komal Singh (15’), Vijay Yadav (36’), team captain Arvind Yadav (39’), and Sajal Saxena (44’) all scored one goal each, leading their team to the third position in Pool ‘B’ in this event held in Madhya Pradesh.
In the opening match of Division ‘A’, Hockey Madhya Pradesh narrowly defeated the Association of Odisha with a score of 3-2. Ali Ahmad (28’, 42’) scored two goals, with Mohammad Zaid Khan (32’) also finding the net for Hockey Madhya Pradesh. For the Hockey Association, Amit Rohidas (17’) and Nilam Sanjeep Xess (57’) each scored a goal.
In another thrilling encounter, Manipur Hockey edged out Le Puducherry Hockey 4-3. Manikandan M. (6’), Rajat Minz (43’), and P. Mahendran (60’) scored for Le Puducherry. On the opposing side, Cyril Lugun (14’, 15’, 28’) achieved a hat-trick, leveling the score for Manipur Hockey. The decisive goal came from Thokchom Kingson Singh (51’) in the final minutes, clinching the match for Manipur Hockey.
