Deccan Gladiators Triumph as Abu Dhabi T10 Champions for the Third Time

Abu Dhabi, Dec 2 (NationPress) Deccan Gladiators showcased their dominance over Morrisville Samp Army in every aspect of the match, securing a thrilling victory by eight wickets and claiming the title of Abu Dhabi T10 champions for the third time on Monday.

The Gladiators delivered a disciplined bowling performance, limiting the Samp Army to 104/7 in their allotted 10 overs, with Faf du Plessis standing out with a brisk 34 runs off just 23 balls. In pursuit of 105 runs, the Gladiators responded with fireworks, successfully chasing down the target with more than three overs remaining.

They began their chase explosively, as opener and England's Tom Kohler-Cadmore aggressively faced skipper Rohan Mustafa in the opening over, hitting four consecutive boundaries to set a strong tone. Nicholas Pooran, the captain, quickly joined in on the action.

Pooran, a West Indies white-ball specialist, took charge against Pakistani spinner Imad Wasim, helping the Gladiators amass 20 runs in the third over, crossing the 50-run milestone. He was ultimately dismissed for 28 runs off just 10 balls by pacer Isuru Udana, who took a stunning catch in the deep, yet this did little to slow down Cadmore, who continued his aggressive innings, reaching a half-century.

Earlier, the Morrisville Samp Army struggled to find their rhythm, losing wickets at regular intervals and being reduced to 81/5. A late effort from Karim Janat of Afghanistan, who managed 16 runs off 8 balls in the final overs, contributed to a total of 104/7.

Faf du Plessis was the top scorer for Samp Army with 34 runs off 23 balls, while wicketkeeper Andries Gous added 21 runs off 9 balls. Richard Gleeson, the England pacer, impressed with figures of 2/16 in two overs for the Deccan Gladiators.

The Deccan Gladiators have now been crowned champions of the Abu Dhabi T10 League for the third time.
