Guwahati Masters Super 100: Ashwini and Tanisha Set to Defend Their Title

Guwahati, Dec 3 (NationPress) The reigning champions in women's doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto, together with promising men's singles player Priyanshu Rajawat, will be aiming for the title in the second edition of the Guwahati Masters Super 100 badminton tournament, which kicks off this week.

Ashwini and Tanisha have been given the top seed in their category, while Rajawat leads the men’s singles draw. Fans are hopeful that these Indian athletes can replicate their impressive performance from the Syed Modi International Super 300 held recently, where Indian players reached all five finals, securing victories in three events.

A total of 461 players from 20 countries are set to compete, with the main draw commencing on Wednesday and spanning the next five days.

In addition to the men's singles and women's doubles, the Indian mixed doubles pair of Satish Kumar Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath are seeded first, while expectations are high for the second-seeded duo of Hariharan Aasakarunan and R. Ruban Kumar in the men's doubles category.

“The goal of hosting the Super 100 is to offer a platform for young Indian talent to showcase their skills. The success of the inaugural edition last year was pivotal in helping Ashwini and Tanisha qualify for the Paris Olympics. We hope that several players will seize this chance to not only demonstrate their abilities but also lay the groundwork for their future careers,” stated the tournament’s organizing secretary Omar Rashid.

All eyes will also be on the newly formed mixed doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha, who recently reached the finals of the Syed Modi International.

In the women’s singles category, the Indian challenge will be led by athletes like Unnati Hooda and national silver medalist Tanvi Sharma.
