Guwahati Masters: Top Seed Priyanshu Rajawat Faces Tough Match, Tanvi Sharma Shocks 7th Seed Tanya Hemanth

Guwahati, Dec 4 (NationPress) Men's top seed Priyanshu Rajawat was made to work hard by compatriot Arya Bhivpathki in the men’s singles second round, while the promising Tanvi Sharma surprised seventh seed Tanya Hemanth to progress to the women’s singles pre-quarters in the Guwahati Masters Super 100 badminton tournament held here on Wednesday.
Rajawat faced a scare as he rallied back from a score of 11-16 and saved a game point in the first game, ultimately defeating Bhivpathki with scores of 22-20 and 21-14 in just 35 minutes. In contrast, Tanvi enjoyed a relatively smoother match, taking down Tanya with scores of 21-18 and 21-14 to move on to the next round. In the mixed doubles event, top seeds Satish Kumar Karunakaran and Adya Variyath, along with fifth seeds Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto, kept their hopes alive for a potential quarterfinal clash.
The leading pairs triumphed over Nithin H.V. and Anagha Pai with a score of 21-14, 21-10, while Dhruv and Tanisha emerged victorious against the Chinese duo of Liao Pin Yi and Huang Ke Xin with scores of 22-20, 21-19. This event is organized collaboratively by the Badminton Association of India and the Assam Badminton Association to offer essential exposure to young Indian badminton players.
Similarly, the rising star Shriyanshi Valishetty took the chance to shine, defeating Unnati Hooda with scores of 21-19 and 21-14. Local contender Isharani Baruah, seeded eighth, fought valiantly against India’s Asian Championship sensation Anmol Kharab but fell short with a scoreline of 21-10, 18-21, 21-18.
In other matches of the day, Tasnim Mir squandered two match points but saved two herself, eventually overcoming compatriot Ira Sharma with a score of 21-13, 19-21, 24-22 in less than an hour. She is set to face defending champion Lalinrat Chaiwan from Thailand, who comfortably defeated Tanishq MP with scores of 21-5, 21-7.
