New Delhi, Dec 20 (NationPress) The eagerly anticipated Hockey India League (HIL) 2024-25 is poised to return with a spectacular opening ceremony at the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, set for December 28, right before the inaugural match. This event is designed to be a grand celebration of sports, entertainment, and advanced technology, featuring thrilling performances by renowned Indian celebrities under the lively theme of 'Hockey ka Jashn'.
Bollywood star Sara Ali Khan and popular music artist King will lead the evening with their captivating performances. The world-famous Shiamak Davar Dance Troupe will energize the stage with vibrant choreography, creating an electrifying atmosphere that will herald the exciting season of HIL ahead. A highlight of the night will be the stunning anamorphic floor projection mapping, presenting a visually engaging experience for fans with 3D illusions displayed on the stadium floor.
To bring fans closer to the action, tickets for both the opening ceremony and all HIL 2024-25 matches will be offered free of charge to attendees in Rourkela. This initiative aims to enhance accessibility for fans nationwide, allowing them to witness the world-class sporting event live.
Dilip Tirkey, chairperson of the Hockey India League, remarked, “Rourkela is a city with a profound passion for hockey, and it is only appropriate that we initiate the league with such a magnificent celebration here.”
Bhola Nath Singh, a member of the Hockey India League (HIL) Governing Committee, shared his enthusiasm for the opening ceremony, stating, “This year’s ceremony promises to be unlike anything we have previously experienced. We sought to create a true festival of hockey, merging entertainment and innovation in a manner that excites fans and draws them closer to the sport. From the performances of Sara Ali Khan and King to the state-of-the-art visual effects, we are confident that this event will set the tone for an unforgettable hockey season.”

Attendees will also have the chance to engage in interactive experiences, such as green-screen photo booths, allowing them to create personalized hockey-themed souvenirs to take home.
The HIL 2024-25 opening ceremony will be broadcast live on DD Sports and other channels on the Doordarshan Network. Fans can also catch the live stream on Prasar Bharati's new OTT platform, Waves. For those watching via the Sony Network, matches will be available on Sony Ten 1 (English), Sony Ten 3 (Hindi), and Sony Ten 4 (Tamil and Telugu) in both SD and HD. Additionally, the action will be streamed live on Sony LIV.
