Veteran drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh retains his role as captain for this continental showdown. The squad boasts a robust mix of seasoned players, ensuring depth and balance across all areas.
As a qualifier for the FIH Hockey World Cup Belgium-Netherlands 2026, India finds itself in Pool A alongside Japan, China, and Kazakhstan. India is set to kick off its campaign against China on August 29, followed by matches against Japan on August 31 and Kazakhstan on September 1.

The midfield is anchored by Manpreet Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Rajinder Singh, Raj Kumar Pal, and Hardik Singh. The forward unit will be led by Mandeep Singh, Abhishek, Sukhjeet Singh, Shilanand Lakra, and Dilpreet Singh, providing ample offensive strength to challenge rival defenses.
Additionally, Nilam Sanjeep Xess and Selvam Karthi have been designated as alternate players.
Commenting on the team selection, coach Craig Fulton stated, “We’ve chosen an experienced squad that knows how to perform under pressure. The Asia Cup is vital for us as World Cup qualification is at stake, so we needed players with composure, resilience, and the expertise to deliver. This selection reflects our ambition to field a team capable of strong competition and achieving our primary goal.”
