ITF J300: Maaya Triumphs in Title Showdown, Senthil Bows Out in Semifinals

New Delhi, Jan 10 (NationPress) The gifted Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi is on the path to securing her first singles title in more than a year following another unexpected victory, while the impressive streak of boys' singles top seed Senthil Kumar concluded with a semifinal defeat at the ITF J300 tournament held here on Friday.
Maaya has demonstrated exceptional form, which she leveraged to eliminate the second seed Eleejah Inisan from France in a fiercely contested girls' singles semifinal at the DLTA Complex here. Displaying remarkable composure under pressure, the 15-year-old Maaya secured a 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-2 victory to advance to the title match against Ekaterina Tupitsyna, who also had to battle hard against Polina Berezina. Tupitsyna triumphed with a score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 in her tight semifinal.
Previously, Maaya clinched a singles title in December 2023 during a J100 event in Pune.
Senthil had been performing excellently, but his journey came to an end against Korean fourth seed Donghyun Hwang, who won decisively with a score of 6-4, 6-1. After losing the initial set, Senthil struggled to find his footing as the Korean surged ahead with a double break. Hwang is set to face unseeded American of Indian descent Roshan Santhosh, who thwarted an all-Korean boys singles final with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Hyeon Seok Seo in the other semifinal.
The boys' doubles title was claimed by the fourth-seeded duo of Artem Bogomlov and Roman Kharlamov, who made a comeback in the final against the formidable team of Alan Aiukhanov and Alexey Shibaev, winning 5-7, 7-6(6), 10-1.
Meanwhile, the girls' trophy was awarded to the top seeds Konstantinova Yoana and Rada Zolotareva, who emerged victorious against the Korean-Taipei team of Yesung Lin Choo and Yu-Chen with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-2.
