ITF J300: Senthil and Maaya Continue Title Pursuit, Arnav's Loss Halts All-Indian Boys' Semifinal

New Delhi, Jan 9 (NationPress) Senthil Kumar and Maaya Rajeshwaran have kept India's hopes alive in the title chase at the ITF J300 tournament by reaching the semifinals in both the boys' and girls' singles categories. However, Arnav Paparkar exited the competition currently taking place at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA) Complex on Thursday.

The top seed, Senthil, who holds a world ranking of 36, faced off against fellow Indian Samarth Sahita, who showcased remarkable resilience despite his 280th ranking. In a challenging quarterfinal match at Court No. 3 at the DLTA Complex, Senthil had to rely on his skills to secure a victory with scores of 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.

It could have been an all-Indian semifinal; however, Arnav Paparkar was defeated by fourth seed Korean Donghyun Hwang with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 5-7 in another thrilling quarterfinal in the boys' category.

Now, Senthil and Hwang are set to face each other for a spot in the finals.

The other semifinal match will feature Korea's Hyon Seok Seo competing against America's Rosha Santhosh. Seo triumphed over Latvia's Arturs Zagras with a score of 7-5, 6-4, while Santhosh also had to put in significant effort to achieve a 6-1, 2-6, 7-6(4) win against Kazakhstan's Damir Zhalgasbay.

In the girls' singles, Maaya continued her impressive journey by eliminating seventh seed Rada Zolotareva, who withdrew from the quarterfinal match while trailing 6-3, 1-0.

However, Maaya now faces a daunting challenge as she prepares to compete against second seed Eleejah Inisan, who ended the competition for fifth-seeded Serbian Petra Koljikusic with a decisive score of 7-5, 6-0.

The other semifinal will see Polina Berezina pitted against Ekaterina Tupitsyna, the latter having defeated eighth seed Briton Allegra Korpanec Davies with scores of 7-6(9), 7-5.

This indicates that Indian players are still in the running for titles in both the men's and women's singles categories.

In boys' doubles, the final will feature fourth seeds Artem Bogomolov/Roman Kharlamov against Alan Aiukhanov/Alexey Shibaev, who both emerged victorious in their respective semifinal matches.
