  • Stricter regulations for social media platforms are being urged.
  • Controversial comments can lead to significant backlash and legal troubles.

Bhubaneswar, Feb 11 (NationPress) The Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, Pravati Parida, stated on Tuesday that measures should be implemented against individuals who make derogatory remarks on social media that offend others.

Parida's remarks were made in light of the recent uproar involving vulgar comments from YouTuber Ranveer Allhabadia and others.

“This incident is quite unfortunate. Those active on social media should refrain from making comments that are hurtful to anyone. If anyone engages in such behavior, appropriate action must be taken. In particular, offensive comments against women should not be tolerated on social media platforms or YouTube. The Women’s Commission must take action against individuals making such remarks,” stated Parida.

The Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, Vijaya Rahatkar, who is currently on a two-day visit to Odisha, expressed that the language used during the YouTube broadcast is extremely offensive.

“The language employed in the show is completely obscene and should not be used in that manner. We are taking this matter very seriously. We have sent a letter to the Union IT Minister, urging the formulation of stricter regulations for such platforms to manage content more effectively,” Rahatkar added.

She also promised that the commission will take all necessary actions to curb such obscene programs in the near future. Notably, YouTuber-podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, has faced controversy and legal issues due to his comments on comedian Samay Raina's show 'India's Got Latent', triggering widespread outrage.

Raina's show is famously recognized among Gen-Z for its dark humor. However, Allahbadia's lewd comments left both the audience and the other judges stunned.

In a recent episode featuring content creators Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija (known as TheRebel Kid), Allahbadia posed a highly controversial question to a contestant, drawing criticism from various groups and political parties.
