Puducherry, Feb 14 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a vehement critique of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday, accusing him of deceiving the agricultural and fishing communities regarding the Centre's recent free trade agreements (FTAs) and trade deals established under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

At a public meeting in Karaikkal, Puducherry, Union Minister Shah emphasized that India's fishermen are poised to reap substantial benefits from the trade agreements forged with the European Union, the UK, and the US.

He asserted that these trade deals are designed to enhance export avenues for Indian seafood while protecting local interests.

"Our fishermen will gain the most from the FTAs signed by Prime Minister Modi with the European Union and UK, along with the trade pact with the United States," stated Union Minister Shah.

He accused Rahul Gandhi of peddling "false information" to fishermen and farmers, claiming these agreements would jeopardize their livelihoods.

In a direct address to the Congress leader, Union Minister Shah remarked, "Rahul Gandhi needs to scrutinize the particulars of the trade deal and the FTA. Prime Minister Modi has ensured complete protection for our farmers and livestock keepers. These agreements will not jeopardize our farmers in any manner."

The Union Home Minister further alleged that numerous international agreements signed during the era of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh put Indian farmers' interests at risk.

In contrast, he noted that the current BJP-led Union government guarantees total protection for farmers, livestock breeders, and fishing communities while negotiating global trade agreements.

He also accused Rahul Gandhi of consistently spreading misinformation for political leverage.

"His strategy is to lie, speak loudly, and repeat those lies. But the citizens of this nation have recognized his misinformation machine," he stated.

Expressing optimism for the future, Union Minister Shah declared that a BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government would be reinstated under PM Modi's leadership in 2029.

"In 2029, a BJP-led NDA government under PM Modi will emerge; your opportunity will not arrive," he remarked, directed at Congress leadership.

These comments indicate an escalating political contest over trade policies and their implications for crucial voter demographics ahead of upcoming elections.
