Bengaluru, Oct 30 (NationPress) The police in Bengaluru have apprehended a couple for deliberately crashing their car into a motorcycle, resulting in the tragic death of one rider during a road rage episode. This incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Puttenahalli police station.

The victim has been named as Dharshan N, a 24-year-old gig worker, while his companion, G. Varun, also aged 24, suffered severe injuries and is currently receiving medical care in a hospital. The alleged perpetrators, identified as Manoj Kumar, a Kalaripayattu martial arts instructor, and his wife Arti Sharma.

DCP (South) Lokesh Jagalasar reported, “On October 25, in Srirama Layout near Puttenahalli, a vehicle collided with a motorcycle carrying two young men. One rider died instantly, while the other was rushed to a hospital. Initially, J.P. Nagar Traffic Police classified it as an accidental death.”

“However, after reviewing CCTV footage, it became evident that the car driver intentionally struck the bike from behind. Subsequent investigation revealed that the two bikers had previously damaged the car's mirror before departing the scene,” the DCP explained.

Outraged by this, the driver reportedly executed a U-turn, pursued the motorcycle, and rammed into it before fleeing the scene. Following these revelations, a murder charge was filed at the Puttenahalli police station.

After the incident, the driver allegedly returned to the area wearing a mask and gathered debris from the car to eliminate evidence. Both accused were later observed, their faces concealed, retrieving parts from the scene. The police have subsequently included charges of evidence tampering in the murder case, according to the DCP.

The couple has been arrested and presented in court. The deceased was engaged as a gig worker, while the husband was a physical arts instructor, the police confirmed.

The case is registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The viral CCTV footage has sparked widespread concern on social media. Police sources indicated that the accused driver, Manoj, pursued the bike for nearly 2 kilometers before colliding with it. The collision was so forceful that both riders were thrown off the bike.

The accused couple claimed to the police that the bikers intentionally obstructed their car, broke the mirror, and fled, which provoked their reaction. This incident transpired at 11.30 PM on October 25. Investigations are ongoing.
