Bengaluru, Aug 1 (NationPress) The police in Bengaluru have successfully unraveled the disturbing case of a 13-year-old boy's kidnapping and murder, culminating in the arrest of two suspects after they were shot in the legs during an encounter on Friday.
The remains of the victim, A. Nischal, an 8th-grade student, were discovered on Thursday night in a remote area on the city's outskirts. Nischal had been heinously attacked and killed, with the suspects later attempting to destroy evidence by setting his body ablaze.
Initial investigations indicated that the two assailants were familiar with both Nischal and his family. They admitted to abducting the boy for a ransom of Rs 5 lakh, subsequently burning his body in a bid to erase any trace of their crime.
The Bengaluru Police have identified the suspects as Gurumurthy, aged 27, from Weavers Colony on Bannerghatta Road, and Gopi, alias Gopala, also 27, from Bannerghatta.
During the confrontation, Gurumurthy was injured in both legs, while Gopi suffered a gunshot wound to one leg. Both men are currently receiving treatment at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru.
Police Inspector Kumaraswamy B.G. and PSI Arvind Kumar, who sustained injuries during the incident after being attacked by the assailants, are also under medical care at Victoria Hospital.

Nischal was a student at Christ School and regularly attended tuition classes from 5 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. on 80 Feet Road in Arakere.
On July 30, he did not return home as expected, prompting his parents to reach out to his tuition teacher, who stated that Nischal had left at the usual time.
During their search, his father discovered the boy's bicycle near Arakere Family Park. Consequently, J.C. Achyut filed a missing person report at the Hulimavu police station. Later, around 8 P.M. on July 31, the family received a WhatsApp message indicating that Nischal had been kidnapped and demanded Rs 5 lakh for his return.
In response, the police created four teams to locate the kidnappers. At approximately 5 P.M., they were alerted to a partially burned body found in the Bilwaradahalli forest area, within the jurisdiction of the Bannerghatta police station. Upon arrival, the boy's family confirmed the victim's identity.
Further investigation revealed that the suspects were hiding in the same forest area. When the police moved in to apprehend them, the duo attacked officers with a knife and dagger in an attempt to flee. The police first fired warning shots before shooting the suspects in the legs and effecting their arrest.
