Bengaluru, March 26 (NationPress) A faculty member at a private medical institution located on the outskirts of Bengaluru was reportedly assaulted by students after allegedly proposing to a female student during a lecture, according to police reports on Thursday.

The authorities are taking this incident with utmost seriousness as both the professor and the student belong to different communities.

This occurrence has been documented at the college falling under the Nelamangala Rural Police Station's jurisdiction. The police have initiated a search for the individuals involved. A video capturing the incident has gained significant traction online, raising public concerns.

As per police information, the event transpired while the lecture was ongoing. The professor purportedly offered a chocolate to a female student and declared his feelings in front of the entire class.

The student promptly objected to his actions and challenged him within the classroom. The situation intensified when the student reportedly struck the professor with her slipper.

After the confrontation, other students, incensed by the professor’s behavior, allegedly pursued him across the campus and attacked him. He was reportedly beaten near his vehicle. In fear of further harm, the professor managed to flee from the scene.

Initial reports suggest that the professor stated in class that he was proposing to a “very significant girl” from the group and distributed chocolates to his students. However, the female student firmly rejected his advances and suggested that he discuss the matter with the college Principal instead.

The video depicts the professor expressing in class that he could not suppress his feelings for a girl from the group and was making a proposal to her. "I am handing out chocolates to a very significant girl from this batch and to all of you," he remarked, followed by, "I love you."

The female student confronted the professor, questioning when she had ever proposed to him. She insisted that if he wished to discuss the matter further, he should approach the principal, and she would accompany him along with the rest of the class. The professor then challenged her, inquiring how she could have proposed to him, to which the student again asked when she had done so.

The professor claimed that there was evidence in the CCTV footage. The student challenged him to present the footage immediately. However, the professor attempted to sidestep the situation, suggesting they could discuss it the following day. The student retorted that she had no interest in discussing it at all. Despite the confrontation, the professor was later seen distributing chocolates to the students. Further investigations are ongoing.
