Key Takeaways
Patna, Feb 2 (NationPress) In response to the Union Budget 2026–27, Rajeev Ranjan Prasad, National Spokesperson for JD(U), remarked that it is a forward-looking budget that aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
During a discussion with IANS, Ranjan stated, "The budget establishes a robust foundation for sustainable development, showcasing the government's dedication to inclusive growth, infrastructure enhancement, and economic resilience."
He emphasized that numerous pivotal decisions made during Prime Minister Modi’s administration have fortified the national economy and expedited progress towards a developed India.
Ranjan noted that the budget’s allocations would stimulate growth across essential sectors and guarantee that advantages reach every segment of society, calling it a crucial stride towards achieving the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
Regarding Bihar, the JD(U) representative mentioned that the state has consistently reaped rewards from key decisions made in recent budgets throughout Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
“This time, among the seven proposed high-speed rail corridors, the Varanasi–Siliguri corridor covers a substantial part of Bihar. This will significantly enhance rail infrastructure and overall connectivity within the state,” he stated.
He also pointed out the fisheries sector, highlighting Bihar's strong performance, with the Centre placing special focus on this sector in the Union Budget.
On the broader economic outlook, Rajeev Ranjan claimed that notwithstanding global challenges and adverse conditions, India has surpassed major economies with a growth rate of 6.8 percent, progressing at two to three times their speed. "With an anticipated growth rate of 7.4 percent, it's clear that the nation is on the right track, and the Opposition's criticism lacks justification," he asserted.
In reaction to Pakistan's alleged refusal to participate in a T20 World Cup match against India, Rajeev Ranjan described the Pakistan Cricket Board's position as perplexing and unacceptable. He noted that while Pakistan competes in some tournaments, it declines to participate in others, raising serious concerns about its conduct in international cricket.
He called on the International Cricket Council (ICC) to impose strict measures, stating, "The ICC must implement decisive actions. It's essential to teach Pakistan a lesson."
