Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 2 (NationPress) The Budget Session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly officially commenced on Monday, featuring an address from Governor Arif Mohammed Khan. This session is being heralded by the ruling alliance as a significant and progressive step for the state.
This marks the inaugural Budget Session for the current government, with leaders from the ruling coalition expressing hopefulness, regarding it as a vital move toward enhancing governance and fostering development in Bihar.
Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha stated that this session would establish the groundwork for better administration and public welfare. “This Legislative Assembly session, particularly the Budget Session, is the first for the new government. It is indeed a positive initiative and will greatly benefit Bihar and its people. It aims to reinforce good governance and prosperity, being a pivotal step towards the upliftment and welfare of all societal sections,” Sinha remarked.
In a similar vein, Minister Pramod Singh Chandravanshi defended the overarching economic strategies of both the Union and state governments, while also taking jabs at the Opposition.
“The Union Budget surpasses the comprehension of the Opposition. This is a budget meant for the entire nation. There is nothing in the budget that specifically benefits Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, or Madhya Pradesh; it is a budget for everyone,” Chandravanshi asserted.
He further mentioned that the state budget, which is set to be unveiled during the session, would be in line with the Centre’s vision for inclusive growth and development across various sectors.
Nevertheless, the Opposition voiced skepticism at the session's outset. RJD MLA Bhai Virendra questioned the Union Budget's benefits for the common populace and expressed uncertainties regarding the Bihar budget's outcomes.
“Today marks the beginning of the process. If the Union Budget has not provided any advantages to the public, what can we expect from the Bihar budget, which will be clear tomorrow once the budget is presented? We will debate it then and assess the nature of the Bihar budget,” he stated.
The state government is anticipated to portray the budget as growth-driven and focused on the populace, while the Opposition is likely to scrutinize allocations and challenge the effectiveness of policies on farmers, youth, and marginalized communities.
