Should There Be a CBI Probe into Punjab's Political Financial Corruption?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, Dec 9 (NationPress) BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Tuesday called for a CBI investigation into the alleged financial misconduct involving the Congress.
Taking a firm stance regarding the allegations made by Navjot Kaur Sidhu, who claimed that former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa sold Congress Assembly tickets in Rajasthan, Chugh stated that such serious claims warrant thorough investigation as they indicate significant financial corruption within the Congress party led by the Gandhi family.
He also pointed out that some members of the Gandhi family are currently on bail in a corruption case, urging for a comprehensive examination of the revelations made by Navjot Kaur.
Chugh highlighted a new chapter of corruption in Punjab involving protected forest and government land in the Shivalik range.
He questioned why the Congress leadership chose to suspend Navjot Kaur Sidhu right when she brought to light a major environmental and land-grabbing scandal, which directly impacts powerful political figures.
According to Chugh, Sidhu has explicitly accused that thousands of acres of land in the Shivalik foothills, protected under the Punjab Land Preservation Act and forest regulations, are currently under illegal occupation by VVIPs without proper legal registry.
He alleged that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is preparing to legalize these illegal holdings, which would essentially endorse environmental crime.
Chugh asserted that the Shivalik region is ecologically sensitive and legally protected, and any attempt to regularize unauthorized forest land must be investigated at the highest authority.
He demanded a thorough CBI investigation into the entirety of the Shivalik land encroachment and the proposed regularization, emphasizing that the residents of Punjab deserve full transparency regarding which VVIPs have seized protected land.
