New Delhi, Jan 21 (NationPress) BJP Bihar State President Sanjay Saraogi on Wednesday rejected the RJD's demonstrations regarding women’s safety in Patna, asserting that the Opposition party lacks the authority to comment on such issues.
In remarks to IANS, Saraogi stated, “The RJD has no right to discuss these matters. If I were to recount their term in power, there were numerous instances of atrocities against women, with mothers and sisters facing dire circumstances, all while the administration turned a blind eye. Today, our government has promptly established an SIT under the guidance of senior officials…”
The protest, led by the RJD women’s wing, emerged in response to widespread anger following the alleged rape and subsequent death of a NEET aspirant at a girls’ hostel in Patna. This incident has escalated political tensions in Bihar, bringing women's safety and law enforcement issues to the forefront.
BJP minister Dilip Jaiswal also criticized the Opposition, bluntly stating, “The RJD has no meaningful agenda.”
This confrontation follows a pointed campaign by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who claimed that the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government has failed to safeguard women and has allowed criminals to operate freely.
Through a series of social media posts, Yadav alleged that the administration has become indifferent to the struggles of minor girls, students, and women, serving corrupt interests rather than the public. He branded the ruling government as morally bankrupt, claiming that leaders project a virtuous image even as serious crimes persist.
Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, has also persistently questioned the Bihar government and the Patna Police regarding their handling of this case.
In a recent post on X on Tuesday, Rohini Acharya accused both the government and the SIT of remaining silent on vital aspects of the investigation, while the state’s Home Minister has been offering what she called routine and “cliched” responses.
Expressing her concerns, Rohini wrote, “Directionless investigation… an attempt to mislead!! A common perception is forming among the people of Bihar that anyone still holding hope in the police investigation regarding the Shambhu Girls’ Hostel incident is living in a delusion.”
She further claimed that nearly two weeks have passed since the incident, and the available evidence and post-mortem report have clarified many details of the case.
“Yet, under the guise of investigation, the police are presenting a new misleading and confusing theory every day,” she alleged.
In contrast, BJP leadership emphasized their swift action in establishing a Special Investigation Team to investigate the incident, highlighting accountability under senior supervision and presenting the government as responsive to citizens’ safety concerns.
