Kolkata, Nov 15 (NationPress) In two districts of West Bengal, BJP leaders and their supporters faced alleged attacks from Trinamool Congress members or were detained by law enforcement while they celebrated the remarkable success of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Bihar elections.
The Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, took to social media on Saturday morning to report that the BJP's district secretary for Cooch Behar, Ajay Roy, was subjected to harassment, forcibly taken, and arrested by the police in Dinhata, Cooch Behar district, allegedly for publicly celebrating the NDA's win.
Opposition leaders accused Udayan Guha, the West Bengal minister overseeing the North Bengal Development Department, of orchestrating the harassment and arrest of Roy.
Adhikari stated that Guha, labeled a criminal by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in the 2021 post-election violence case presented to the Calcutta High Court, had commanded the state police to apprehend Roy.
