BJP's Membership Expansion Deadline in Bengal Pushed to December 31

Kolkata, Dec 9 (NationPress) The deadline for meeting the goal of bringing in one crore new party members in West Bengal by the BJP's state unit has been postponed to December 31, changing from the original cutoff of December 15.
This decision was made during a meeting held in Delhi with the elected Parliamentarians from West Bengal, including members of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, which was overseen by the BJP’s central observer for the region, Sunil Bansal, according to a party insider familiar with the proceedings.
Out of the 14 BJP Parliamentarians from West Bengal, comprising 12 from the Lok Sabha and 2 from the Rajya Sabha, 10 attended the meeting.
The four MPs absent from the meeting included three Lok Sabha representatives, Raju Bista from Darjeeling, Manoj Tigga from Alipurduar, Abhijit Gangopadhyay from Tamluk, along with Ananta Maharaj, a Rajya Sabha member.
Insiders mentioned that Bansal plans to convene a separate meeting with BJP’s legislative team in the West Bengal Assembly later this month.
A senior party official indicated that Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, might play a significant role in enhancing the membership initiative.
Although the initial deadline of December 15 aimed for the induction of one crore new members in West Bengal, only a quarter of that target has been realized so far. Consequently, the BJP's central leadership has opted to extend the deadline to December 31.
During the meeting, party insiders reported that Bansal also urged the MPs to focus on networking within their regions, not only to escalate the new membership campaign but also to bolster the party's organizational foundation, particularly at the booth level.
