West Bengal BJP to Conduct Essential Meeting Today to Assess Membership Drive Progress

Kolkata, Jan 4 (NationPress) The West Bengal BJP is poised to hold an essential meeting on Saturday afternoon to evaluate the status of its ongoing membership campaign across the state.
The meeting will be led by BJP National General Secretary and Central Observer for West Bengal, Sunil Bansal.
All the prominent leaders of the Bengal BJP unit, including state chief and Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar, along with the Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Suvendu Adhikari, are anticipated to attend.
Party insiders have mentioned that while the BJP has aimed to recruit one crore new members in the state by the close of 2024, they have yet to reach even half of this goal.
Currently, reports indicate that around 42 lakh individuals have signed up as new members, with just over 38 lakh being verified.
A member of the state committee elaborated that anyone can become a primary member by simply giving a missed call.
Subsequently, active BJP workers contact these individuals to verify their information before they are designated as verified primary members.
The response from the general public to enroll as primary members has been overwhelming in recent weeks. A significant factor contributing to this surge is the growing concern regarding the escalating crisis in neighboring Bangladesh, where attacks on minority Hindus are reportedly intensifying.
Moreover, he noted that each active party member has been assigned the responsibility of enrolling at least 50 new primary members.
The state committee member also pointed out that active workers are informing the public about the potential threats arising from the situation in Bangladesh, considering that West Bengal has become vulnerable to infiltration from the neighboring nation.
