The international border, extending 240 kilometers in the union territory, traverses Samba, Kathua, and Jammu districts.
This border is monitored by the Border Security Force (BSF), whose personnel are tasked with preventing infiltration, exfiltration, drug trafficking, and drone operations originating from the Pakistani side.
Terrorist groups, with support from Pakistani forces, have utilized drones to drop arms, ammunition, cash, and narcotics across the border into India.
These items are typically retrieved by over-ground workers (OGWs) associated with these groups and later handed over to terrorists, facilitating ongoing terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The BSF has deployed advanced anti-drone technology along the international border to combat these drone threats.
In addition to the international boundary, Jammu and Kashmir also features a 740 km Line of Control (LoC), which runs through Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts in the Valley, as well as Poonch, Rajouri, and parts of the Jammu district. The Army is responsible for securing the LoC.
