Moscow, May 20 (NationPress) As India and Russia enhance their defence partnership, the effectiveness of 'Made in India' military equipment has been significantly validated during Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, disclosed Vinay Kumar, the Indian Ambassador to Russia, in an interview with a Russian media outlet.
"Our relationship has strengthened in recent times. We are not just engaged in transactions involving military equipment; we also collaborate on the joint development and production of defence products. Equipment produced in India, such as BrahMos (a supersonic anti-ship missile developed through Russian-Indian collaboration), has consistently demonstrated its effectiveness, particularly during the period from May 7 to 10. Hence, I am confident that our relations in this sector will continue to evolve," stated Ambassador Vinay Kumar during his conversation with Izvestia.
When queried about the possibility of new deliveries of Russian defence equipment being discussed, Kumar highlighted that both nations maintain regular communication regarding the entire range of military and military-technical collaboration, which remains a vital aspect of their relationship.
He also reiterated New Delhi's stance that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was established on a bilateral basis following a call from Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) to his Indian counterpart.
"Several leaders, including President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, have communicated with their Indian counterparts following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. However, India has persistently adhered to a policy where Kashmir is a matter of concern for both nations, and third-party mediation is not considered. This viewpoint remains unchanged," Kumar informed the prominent Russian newspaper.
The Ambassador emphasized that the current tension with Pakistan emerged as a response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where 26 tourists were killed at close range after their religious identities were revealed.
In response to a question regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine and his readiness to assist, Kumar remarked that India endorses dialogue among the involved parties to resolve the conflict.
"If we can contribute to facilitating dialogue and achieving a peaceful resolution, we are prepared to do so," he concluded.
