CM Yogi Critiques Priyanka for 'Palestine' Bag, Highlights Youth Opportunities in Israel

New Delhi, Dec 17 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday took a jab at Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra regarding her symbolic endorsement of Palestine and aimed to highlight how Israel holds a greater significance for his administration and the central government. He pointed out that this 'association' has been yielding substantial benefits for the youth of the state.
"A Congress leader flaunts her bag with 'Palestine' written on it while our government has already facilitated the travel of over 5,500 youths from Uttar Pradesh to Israel, where they are involved in infrastructure projects and earning attractive salaries in return," the Chief Minister stated during his address to the House on the second day of the UP Assembly's winter session.
He noted that these youths are not only living in a safe environment but are also earning more than 1.5 lakh per month.
"The remittances they send back significantly contribute to the economy of the state, and interestingly, there is a growing demand from Israel as the youths from UP have made a notable impression with their diligent work," he added.
CM Yogi's remarks aimed at Priyanka came following the backlash she faced for showcasing a bag that bore the Palestine label. Numerous BJP leaders criticized the Congress lawmaker for her gesture, labeling it as 'crass communal posturing'.
As Priyanka's expression of support for Palestine through her handbag ignited considerable controversy, she also responded to her detractors.
"Who has the authority to dictate what I wear? Who will decide that? This is typical patriarchy, dictating what women can wear. I reject that notion. I will wear whatever I choose," she stated to the press.
Notably, the bag carried by the Wayanad MP to Parliament on Monday displayed 'Palestine' prominently alongside a watermelon, a symbol representing support for the war-torn nation.
Moreover, the Congress General Secretary has been vocal regarding Israel's military actions against Palestine, which escalated after the horrific terrorist attacks by Hamas in October of the previous year.
