Priyanka Gandhi's 'Palestine' Handbag Sparks Controversy Among Naqvi and Anurag Thakur

New Delhi, Dec 16 (NationPress) Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made a statement in Parliament on Monday by carrying a handbag that prominently featured a ‘Palestine’ tag. This act provoked significant backlash from the BJP, which criticized it as crass communal posturing.

Priyanka has consistently voiced her concerns regarding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, previously labeling Israel's military operations as barbaric and inhuman. Her actions elicited strong responses from BJP leaders Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur.

Naqvi, using a sarcastic tone, remarked that the family (referring to the Gandhi family) remains trapped in ignorance and arrogance and will persist in carrying the family’s legacy along with the bag of Palestine.

He suggested that as long as they remain in this state, such actions will continue. Naqvi further criticized Priyanka Gandhi, stating that despite her recent entry into Parliament, she was already making significant errors, likening her actions to a cricketer who has bowled a no-ball. He warned that if the Gandhis continue on this trajectory, they would only perpetuate further confusion and discord.

Anurag Thakur, in comments to IANS, linked this incident to previous statements made by Asaduddin Owaisi, who had shouted pro-Palestinian slogans in Parliament. He challenged Priyanka Gandhi for her silence on the oppression faced by Hindus in Bangladesh while openly advocating for Palestine.

Thakur contended that the Congress party seems more aligned with certain foreign interests instead of addressing the issues concerning the 1.4 billion people of India.

Priyanka Gandhi's handbag was perceived as a clear indication of her support for Palestine, reinforcing her commitment to advocating for the Palestinian cause. This is not the first instance where she has expressed support for Palestine, as she has previously called on the central government to show solidarity with the Palestinian people. She also conveyed her support through a message on her official X account.
