BJP Challenges Priyanka Gandhi's Stance on Israel-Gaza Conflict
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 25 (NationPress) The BJP criticized Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday for what they labeled as "selective outrage" regarding the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict. The party asserted that possessing a "fake Gandhi surname" does not equate to possessing "conviction and courage".
BJP National Spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia harshly targeted Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, dubbing her the "female Ghajini of Indian politics" while referencing her previous gesture of bringing a Palestine bag to Parliament. He rebuked her for failing to denounce the appalling October 7 massacre perpetrated by Hamas against Israel.
"The Female Ghajini of Indian politics has made her return! While carrying a 'Palestine' bag to Parliament may be simple, it evidently takes significant moral courage to denounce the Oct 7th massacre of over 1,200 innocents, including women who were abducted and assaulted," Bhatia remarked in a post on X.
He added, "You may carry the fake Gandhi surname, but you clearly lack both conviction and courage."
Earlier that day, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would address the "genocide of thousands of innocent men, women, and children" in Gaza during his upcoming visit to Israel and seek justice for them.
On the social media platform X, she stated, "I hope that the Hon Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji raises the issue of the genocide of countless innocent men, women, and children in Gaza while speaking to the Knesset during his upcoming trip to Israel and demands justice for them."
She further emphasized, "India has consistently stood for what is right throughout our history as an independent nation; we must continue to illuminate the path of truth, peace, and justice globally."
This statement coincided with PM Modi's departure for his two-day visit to Israel. During this visit, both nations aim to outline new objectives for their Strategic Partnership and advance their mutual vision for an innovative and prosperous future.
This marks PM Modi's second journey to Israel following his visit in 2017, which paved the way for new collaborations in defense, agriculture, and water management.
In his departure remarks, the Prime Minister expressed eagerness for his discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, intending to bolster cooperation across various sectors and exchange perspectives on regional and global matters.
