Did Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Just Slam Bengal's Mamata Banerjee Over Law and Order?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, Feb 22 (NationPress) On Sunday, Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched a fierce critique against her West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee, claiming a significant decline in law and order in the state. Gupta asserted that the populace is ready to oust the Trinamool Congress in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters at an event in Kolkata, the BJP leader condemned the Mamata Banerjee-led administration for alleged violence against women, labeling it as a “politics of hooliganism.”
“I believe that the era of terrorism, hooliganism, and greed will conclude in West Bengal. This election will herald a transformation in Bengal. With the ongoing torture, the safety of our women at risk, and rampant looting and assaults, the people have resolved to remove Mamata Banerjee from power,” Gupta declared.
During her visit to Kolkata for the BJP’s Mahila Sammelan at the Science City auditorium, she also offered prayers at the Kali Temple in Kalighat.
Gupta further criticized the West Bengal government for alleged infiltration, claiming that the state administration is protecting infiltrators.
“No matter how much Mamata Banerjee tries to shield these infiltrators, she cannot silence the voice of the people. Change is on the horizon; the people have made their choice,” she emphasized.
In response, the Trinamool Congress countered Gupta's accusations, highlighting recent crime incidents in the national capital and questioning her statements.
On social media platform X, the party pointed to a recent explosion in Delhi, alarming levels of air pollution, and instances of crimes against women.
“Just yesterday, a deadly blast shook the national capital, endangering innocent lives. The AQI is through the roof, suffocating the city in toxic air. Over 500 women and girls have gone missing in a mere fortnight. Rape has become disturbingly common,” the TMC stated.
The party also noted a recent double murder case in Delhi.
“Only yesterday, a 35-year-old woman and her six-year-old daughter were found murdered in their home. This raises serious concerns regarding governance and law enforcement,” the TMC added.
The Trinamool Congress accused Gupta of making politically charged statements and urged her to focus on governance in Delhi rather than attacking West Bengal.
