The suspect, known as Anish alias Ishwar Dayal (23), who resides in Narela, had been on the run since March 7. He was sought in connection with FIR No. 119/2026, filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Anish has now been detained under Section 35(1)(C) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
As per the Delhi Police, the arrest was executed by a specialized team from the Crime Branch in RK Puram, directed by Inspector Rampal. The operation included SI Amit Kumar, ASI Ankit, and Head Constables Ashish and Dharmender, all under the supervision of ACP Umesh Barthwal and the overarching guidance of DCP (Crime) Pankaj Kumar.
The case involves an event that transpired on March 6, around 6:30 P.M., when a woman in Narela reported that two youths arrived at her water plant on a motorcycle. One of them reportedly brandished a pistol and discharged a shot at a wall nearby, inciting panic. The culprits also threatened her to cease operations at the water plant or face severe consequences, fleeing the scene immediately after.
Following the woman's complaint, a case was lodged at the Narela police station, and an inquiry was initiated. During the investigation, one of the accomplices, identified as Piyush, was captured; however, the principal shooter, Anish, remained elusive.
The Crime Branch escalated efforts to locate the absconding suspect, utilizing specific intelligence and technical surveillance to pinpoint Anish's movements and potential hideouts.
On March 18, authorities made a breakthrough, tracking Anish within Delhi. A meticulously coordinated operation led to his capture without allowing him a chance to escape.
During initial questioning, Anish admitted his involvement in the crime, explaining that the attack aimed to assert control over the area and was motivated by prior enmity with an associate named Rohit. He acknowledged that the intention was to intimidate the victim and disrupt her business.
Authorities noted that Anish is a school dropout who completed up to Class 9 and is currently unemployed. He lives with his family in Narela and was allegedly drawn into criminal activities in pursuit of power and quick financial gain.
Officials stated that the Crime Branch is relentlessly working to combat heinous crimes and pursue wanted criminals, including those on parole, bail jumpers, and organized crime groups. The application of technical surveillance and human intelligence has proven essential in these operations.
Legal action against the suspect is in progress.
