Bhopal, Sep 16 (NationPress) The PM Mitra Textile Park located in Dhar is projected to create 1 lakh direct jobs upon its completion, alongside an additional 2 lakh indirect employment opportunities once it becomes fully operational, stated Chief Minister Mohan Yadav during an event on Tuesday.
Speaking at the mela, CM Yadav highlighted the historical relevance of cotton farming in Madhya Pradesh.
"Over 6 lakh families in the state are involved in cotton cultivation, a practice that has roots dating back to the British colonial era," he remarked.
The park is being established in the village of Bhainsola in Dhar.
He criticized the previous Congress administration for failing to upgrade existing factories, which resulted in numerous textile unit closures, causing significant distress and harassment for farmers.
"Our government is dedicated to correcting this. We have committed to generating jobs for 30 lakh people in the Dhar-Jhabua area through this initiative," CM Yadav emphasized, pointing to the park's essential role in rejuvenating the local economy.
In a significant advancement for Madhya Pradesh's textile industry, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Dhar tomorrow to inaugurate the nation’s inaugural PM Mitra (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Park.
CM Yadav made this announcement during the inauguration of the Swadeshi Mela in Bhopal, where he underscored the project’s capacity to improve the lives of local cotton farmers and create extensive employment prospects.
He also pointed out the exceptional quality of Madhya Pradesh's cotton, branding it as organic and primed for high global demand.
"Our organic cotton is expected to command premium prices in international markets, directly benefiting farmers," he stated, aligning the initiative with the central government's vision for a self-reliant India in textiles.
The park has already drawn considerable investments, with reports indicating Rs 12,508 crore from 15 companies, reflecting strong industry confidence. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to establish Madhya Pradesh as a textile hub, utilizing its abundant cotton production.
The state ranks among India's top cotton producers, and the integrated park will feature facilities for spinning, weaving, dyeing, and garment production, thus creating a complete value chain.
CM Yadav commended PM Modi's leadership, noting that the project exemplifies modern India's industrial strength and commitment to rural progress. "Under PM Modi’s guidance, we are transforming challenges into opportunities. This park will not only generate jobs but also promote comprehensive development in the area, including infrastructure enhancements and skill training for local residents," he remarked.
The Swadeshi Mela, aimed at promoting indigenous products, provided an ideal setting for this announcement, attracting crowds eager to learn about government initiatives.
As preparations for PM Modi’s visit ramp up, security measures have been intensified in Dhar, with local officials anticipating a large turnout. The inauguration marks a significant milestone for Madhya Pradesh, potentially inspiring similar projects across the nation.
