New Delhi, Nov 22 (NationPress) With its swift infrastructure advancements, a robust influx of international investors, and India’s most extensive semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, Dholera in Gujarat is positioning itself as a pivotal force in India's industrial evolution, as reported by the Commerce Ministry.
Dholera Industrial City is establishing itself as a prime location for global partnerships looking to invest in advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, and intelligent industrial environments.
The ministry highlighted that Japanese firms are continually boosting their presence across NICDC industrial cities, illustrating a strong belief in India's manufacturing potential.
Nobumitsu Hayashi, Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), recently led a delegation to the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) flagship industrial park, Dholera Special Investment Region (Dholera SIR), to evaluate the progress of India’s inaugural and evolving Semicon City and examine the swiftly developing greenfield and ‘Plug-and-Play’ industrial infrastructure.
Hayashi commended the exceptional planning, infrastructure readiness, and robust governance framework of Dholera SIR. He expressed optimism regarding India’s semiconductor growth trajectory and noted the rapid advancements at the Tata Electronics Semiconductor Fabrication Facility.
He emphasized that Dholera’s integrated systems, scalable utilities, and future-oriented infrastructure render it a globally competitive site for advanced electronics and semiconductor investments.
At the Tata Electronics Semiconductor Fabrication Facility within Dholera SIR, the delegation engaged in discussions with Tata Group leadership and assessed the 163-acre semiconductor fabrication plant being developed with an investment of Rs 91,000 crore in collaboration with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) from Taiwan.
This facility, which will be India’s first commercial semiconductor fabrication plant, is projected to commence production in 2027, generating 50,000 wafers per month across 110 nm to 28 nm nodes, and creating over 20,000 skilled jobs.
Hayashi voiced his optimism that this project would bolster India-Japan technological cooperation and contribute to global semiconductor supply chains.
This visit coincides with a period of remarkable momentum in semiconductor manufacturing in India, with Dholera at the forefront as the nation’s most ambitious greenfield smart industrial city.
Recently, the Ambassador of Japan to India and Bhutan, Ono Keiichi, directed a 70-member Japanese business delegation from sectors like semiconductors, electronics, machinery, infrastructure, logistics, and financial services.
Over the past year, Dholera has welcomed delegations from JBIC, the Japan Chamber of Commerce, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), JICA, prominent Japanese corporations, and global investors, as per the ministry.
