Frustrated by Garbage Crisis, Ghazipur Residents Claim 'Kejriwal's Promises Were Empty'

New Delhi, Dec 12 (NationPress) With the Delhi Assembly elections on the horizon, political parties are escalating their campaigns and messages to win over voters. Nevertheless, the struggles of the Ghazipur community are still not being adequately addressed.
The towering heap of garbage continues to be a significant concern for the residents here. Despite the assurances from various leaders, including former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the issues have not been resolved.
Residents of Ghazipur shared their grievances during a recent conversation with IANS on Thursday.
Munni Devi, a local resident, expressed: "The situation worsens with each passing day. The garbage pile keeps growing. All around, there's just waste. The water canal has turned into a dumping ground. We even find dead animals in the canal. What are the MCD officials doing? We have been enduring this filth for years."
"Arvind Kejriwal had vowed to eliminate the garbage, yet that promise remains unfulfilled," she added.
Rajesh, another resident, stated: "I have lived here for many years. The garbage issue remains unsolved. Arvind Kejriwal promised to clear the waste, but there has been no advancement in the last decade. The garbage accumulation has only intensified.
"For the past ten years, we have been living amid dirt and odor. The problems worsen during the rainy season," he mentioned.
Balmitra Devi shared her despair about the situation, saying she has lost all hope for change.
"No government will resolve our issue. I have been a resident here for 40 years. Pollution has seeped into our homes. Stepping outside means confronting filth. It is incredibly challenging," she lamented.
Nirmala Devi, a housewife, remarked: "We cannot even eat bread at home. I wish to ask Kejriwal what he has accomplished in ten years. What actions did he take during his two years in the MCD?"
Shafiq mentioned that when Arvind Kejriwal campaigns this time, he will surely inquire about the promise made.
"The issue has not improved under Kejriwal's administration. When he seeks our votes, we will demand to know what happened to his promises," he asserted.
Khalid, another resident, pointed out that the garbage situation in Ghazipur serves merely as political leverage without any actual solutions.
Sartaj concluded: "The garbage heap is a never-ending problem. The current government made promises, but look at the reality. Diseases are rampant. Fires erupt here in the summer, making it hard to breathe."
“Since childhood, I have witnessed this garbage pile. Yet, no government has stepped up to address it. We constantly face numerous challenges,” said Nitin.
