New Delhi, Feb 20 (NationPress) Beginning his two-day journey with a visit to a local temple, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Thursday engaged with Congress workers and listened to the concerns of the electorate in his Raebareli parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
The MP's agenda for the two-day visit encompasses the inauguration of various projects for the public, meetings with party members, women, and youth, discussions with Dalit students, and a tour of the local railway coach factory, as reported by a party official.
A social media clip featured Gandhi, seated in his vehicle, attentively hearing the grievances of a local resident and reviewing his application.
He also kindly agreed to take selfies with young constituents who approached him.
According to a party member, Gandhi's packed itinerary during this constituency visit will also comprise the unveiling of a statue of Rana Beni Madho, a significant figure in the Indian rebellion of 1857 from the Oudh region.
Gandhi's visit coincided with the presentation of the Budget by the Yogi Adityanath government in the Assembly.
A party member indicated that Gandhi criticized the Budget as merely a reiteration of previous promises.
He asserted that during his discussions with party workers, he expressed his concern regarding the lack of development initiatives in Uttar Pradesh.
The party representative reiterated Gandhi's critique of the UP government for its alleged inability to provide adequate facilities for devotees attending the Mahakumbh.
“As a matter of faith, people have bathed in the holy waters in the past, and I am confident they will continue to do so,” he remarked.
The leader noted that Congress has acted as a supportive alliance partner wherever opportunities for joint action arise.
In the June 2024 parliamentary elections, Gandhi triumphed over his BJP opponent Dinesh Pratap Singh with a margin of 3.90 lakh votes. He previously represented the Wayanad seat in Kerala during the last Lok Sabha elections.
