Gandhinagar, March 10 (NationPress) The government of Gujarat has unveiled plans to launch an 'Asset Safety Monitoring Portal' designed for the continuous digital oversight of over 1.5 lakh public assets, which encompass roads, bridges, government structures, and other civic amenities.

This initiative aims to enhance public safety and improve supervision of state-owned infrastructures.

The decision, taken under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, emphasizes the importance of prioritizing citizen safety and protecting public property.

The state administration has stated that this project aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that public infrastructure remains safe for all citizens.

A recent directive from the state’s General Administration Department (GAD) confirmed that all public assets in Gujarat will be cataloged on a unified, centralized digital platform.

This system will incorporate information such as GIS-based location data, photographs, details of responsible officials, and a unique digital identifier for each asset.

Officials indicated that the digital registry aims to facilitate systematic and ongoing monitoring of infrastructure conditions, while establishing a data-driven framework for future construction and maintenance planning.

The government highlighted that the portal will assist authorities in identifying structural vulnerabilities, delays in inspections, and necessary repairs promptly.

Furthermore, an automated inspection calendar and a real-time alert mechanism will be integrated into the platform to remind administrative departments to conduct inspections and maintenance as needed.

Through this system, field officers will be able to upload inspection reports and images via digital logins on the integrated portal.

District collectors and municipal commissioners will carry out weekly, monthly, and quarterly assessments of the monitoring data. In-charge secretaries will review the status during their district visits.

A specialized Asset Safety Monitoring Cell has been established within the General Administration Department to supervise the system at the state level.

This cell will perform daily monitoring and provide regular updates to the chief secretary to ensure necessary follow-up actions are taken.

The government noted that the portal is structured to connect various levels of the administrative framework through a unified digital system, facilitating coordinated monitoring and decision-making regarding public infrastructure.

Officials stated that this initiative is poised to enhance safety oversight of existing infrastructure while fostering transparency and accountability in the management and upkeep of public assets across the state.
