Gurugram, January 25 (NationPress) - The Gurugram Police have apprehended an auto driver along with two accomplices for orchestrating a fabricated robbery incident in Gurugram.
The individuals involved have been named as Ranjeet, Dilip from Panna Madhya Pradesh, and Bittu from Wazirabad village, Gurugram.
According to police reports, on January 22, a businessman lodged a complaint stating that on January 18, he had dispatched goods via his auto driver Ranjeet to another businessman, who was supposed to pay Rs 4.85 lakh in return.
Subsequently, the accused auto driver reported that he was robbed of cash at the MDI Chowk flyover. Upon arrival at the scene, the businessman suspected that Ranjeet was fabricating a robbery tale. The auto-rickshaw driver and his accomplices then concocted a story to seize the money.
In response to the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections at the Sector-17/18 police station in Gurugram.
The Crime Branch Sector-10 team took swift action and arrested the three accused on January 24.
The police apprehended Ranjeet in Gopal Nagar, Dilip in Sector-42, and Bittu in Wazirabad.
During questioning, it emerged that Ranjeet Kumar, the auto driver for the complainant, had informed his accomplices that he would retrieve the money. Following this, the crime was executed on the MDI Chowk flyover as planned.
Authorities indicated that they have recovered Rs 2.20 lakh in cash from the suspects.
Sandeep Kumar, spokesperson for the Gurugram Police, stated, 'The suspect auto driver fabricated a story to steal the complainant's money along with his partners. The accused has been placed in police custody to recover the remaining sum.'
