Chandigarh, April 7 (NationPress) Anurag Rastogi, the Chief Secretary of Haryana, presided over a crucial meeting on Tuesday to assess the distribution of LPG cylinders, which includes the 5 kg free trade LPG (FTL) cylinders, and the current state of the piped natural gas (PNG) network across the state.
During the online meeting, the Chief Secretary instructed all Deputy Commissioners to guarantee the last-mile delivery of LPG cylinders, focusing particularly on rural regions. They were also asked to vigilantly oversee the distribution of FTL cylinders and PNG connectivity, ensuring that new LPG connections are provided in a timely and transparent manner.
Rastogi reiterated the government's unwavering commitment to ensuring that no household in Haryana experiences any difficulty in obtaining clean cooking fuel, emphasizing that the distribution system must always remain alert and responsive.
J. Ganesan, the Commissioner and Secretary (Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs), stated that domestic LPG cylinders are being supplied state-wide without any interruptions in the supply chain. “There is no shortage of domestic LPG in Haryana, and the current situation mirrors that of the same period last year,” he confirmed.
In a noteworthy update from March 28, public sector oil marketing companies (OMCs) have successfully resumed full commercial LPG supplies to hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and industries.
The meeting revealed that in March alone, OMCs collectively supplied 54.39 lakh domestic LPG cylinders.
The discussion also highlighted the distribution of 5 kg FTL cylinders, which provide a convenient and cost-effective solution for migrant workers, smaller families, street vendors, and small eateries.
From April 1 to April 5, a total of 4,730 FTL cylinders were sold by the three OMCs.
Demonstrating improved energy access, a total of 2,565 new LPG connections have been issued since March 15. Among these, 1,090 were for 5 kg cylinders, 1,462 for 19 kg domestic cylinders, and 13 for commercial 47.5 kg cylinders.
