Dharamsala, Dec 1 (NationPress) In a bold initiative to eradicate psychotropic drugs from Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu spearheaded the Anti-Chitta Awareness Walkathon on Monday, which attracted numerous schoolchildren and community members.
The walkathon commenced at Dari Ground and was filled with anti-drug slogans, as students and locals displayed placards advocating for a drug-free Himachal and the abolition of all drug types, particularly the lethal ‘chitta’ (synthetic drug). The event concluded at Police Ground.
The Chief Minister accompanied the children throughout the walk, reinforcing the government’s commitment to eliminating ‘chitta’ and other drugs from the region.
During the event, children took selfies with CM Sukhu and engaged in conversations with him, as he motivated them to join the battle against psychotropic substances.
Addressing attendees at the Police Ground, he issued a stern warning to the ‘chitta’ mafia, asserting that drug peddlers would no longer find sanctuary in Dev Bhoomi.
He noted that although the PIT-NDPS Act had been dormant for years, the current government has taken decisive action. Under this law, 46 major traffickers have already been apprehended.
Issuing a firm warning, he stated, “Every single rupee earned from drugs will be confiscated, and we have successfully seized Rs 46 crore worth of illicit assets.”
This marks a new chapter for Himachal. “We will not rest until every trace of ‘chitta’ is eradicated from the state. This struggle extends beyond traffickers; it encompasses the entire drug mafia network,” he declared.
“Anyone caught selling drugs to our children will face imprisonment; their operation ends here,” he asserted.
CM Sukhu emphasized that the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Special Task Force (STF), police, education, health, social justice departments, and every citizen are now united against ‘chitta’.
“Today, I am not just your Chief Minister; I am someone carrying a profound responsibility. I stand here as a guardian to safeguard your future.” He reiterated that the fight against ‘chitta’ is not merely a campaign but a crucial battle to protect the youth’s future.
“The campaign has now reached mission mode,” he concluded.
