Tokyo, Sep 27 (NationPress) Survivors of the Hiroshima atomic bomb expressed their deep appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, recognizing his commitment to global peace and his guiding principle of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'. This accolade was presented by the Japanese NGO 'Peace Culture Village'.

This acknowledgment took place during the 'Vishwa Seva Pakhwada 2025' celebrations in Japan. A contingent from the Indian Minorities Federation (IMF) commemorated PM Modi's 75th birthday while also paying tribute to the victims of the atomic bomb on its 80th anniversary. The delegation featured Rajya Sabha MP and IMF convener Satnam Singh Sandhu, IMF Co-Founder Prof Himani Sood, alongside members of the Indian community residing in Japan.

Notable attendees included Toshiko Tanaka, a representative of the Nobel Peace Prize-winning group Nihon Hidankyo, and Kenta Sumioka, a third-generation atomic bomb survivor and Managing Director of Peace Culture Village in Hiroshima.

The citation, signed by both Tanaka and Sumioka, was presented to the IMF convener. It recognized PM Modi's efforts in promoting peace globally, designating him as a resolute advocate for peace.

The accolade emphasized that PM Modi's leadership reinforces the belief that humanity's greatest strength lies in dialogue, cooperation, and a shared commitment to a future devoid of nuclear weapons.

Moreover, the citation acknowledged PM Modi's contributions to nuclear peace through initiatives that honor victims and motivate future generations to reject nuclear conflict.

It also underscored India's policies of restraint, which strengthen norms against the use of nuclear weapons, the nation's dedication to transparent cooperation for peaceful objectives, and the encouragement of youth and scientific exchanges to ensure that innovation is guided by ethics and peace.

"In presenting this honor, we also acknowledge your unwavering role as a global voice for peace, whose leadership asserts that humanity's greatest strength lies in dialogue, cooperation, and a collective responsibility for a nuclear-free future," stated the citation.

Toshiko Tanaka shared his experience, stating, "I was just over six years of age during the bombing of Hiroshima. I endured the nightmares of this disaster and dedicated my life to advocating for the eradication of weapons of mass destruction. During the bombing, I lost all my classmates and was the sole survivor. Even today, the remains of some victims have never been located."

Tanaka also commended PM Modi's nuclear restraint stance, noting, "I was deeply moved by Prime Minister Modi's expressed willingness during his visit to Japan to collaborate on global peace. His vision and India's no-first-use policy, credible minimum deterrence, and voluntary moratorium on nuclear testing are vital examples of how doctrines can mitigate nuclear threats and reinforce global norms of non-use."

He further praised the philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', stating, "India's approach promotes world peace and serves as a model for other nations. The citation we presented today acknowledges PM Modi's call to all countries for peace. I applaud his mantra of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', which embodies the profound belief that the world is one family."

Kenta Sumioka also shared insights about his family's history, mentioning, "I grew up hearing my grandmother recount her experiences during the bombing. I had many questions about it, and now, as an adult, I lead an NGO in Hiroshima focused on peace education."

"I believe it is essential for various nations to collaborate, and India, in particular, plays a crucial role in the global landscape. I aspire to partner with Prime Minister Modi and the people of India to foster peace, and I eagerly anticipate this collaboration," she added.

On this occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu remarked, "The world recognizes Prime Minister Modi as a global ambassador for peace. Under his guidance, India's global standing has been bolstered, and both India and its people are held in high regard around the world. The ties between India and Japan have strengthened significantly under PM Modi's leadership."

He further emphasized that if the world embraces PM Modi's vision of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' in its true spirit, it could help resolve many current conflicts.

"The Prime Minister has consistently advocated for world peace, unity, and harmony, asserting that humanity should coexist peacefully and strive for a brighter, more harmonious future," he concluded.
