On Tuesday, Air Chief Marshal Sir Harvey Smyth visited the Air Force Station in Gwalior, where he received an in-depth understanding of Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter base operations and interacted with the air warriors.
"During his visit on March 24, 2026, Air Chief Marshal Sir Harvey Smyth engaged with IAF personnel at the Gwalior station, gaining insights into operational dynamics. He was welcomed by Air Marshal B Manikantan, AOC-in-C of the Central Air Command. This visit augmented mutual understanding and opened up avenues for increased convergence and interoperability between the two Air Forces," highlighted a post from the Indian Air Force's Media Coordination Centre on X.
On the same day, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan and Air Chief Marshal Sir Harvey Smyth convened in New Delhi, focusing on advancements in training exchanges, intelligence collaboration, and integrated military interactions between the two nations.
The High Commission of India in London shared on X, "Propelling future-ready India-UK defence collaboration! General Anil Chauhan, CDS, engaged with Air Chief Marshal Sir Harvey Smyth to discuss progress in training exchanges, intelligence cooperation, and integrated military engagement."
During their meeting, General Anil Chauhan praised the successful execution of the 17th Military Sub Group Meeting, expressing optimism about deepening a more integrated and future-oriented defence partnership between India and the UK.
Present at the meeting were the UK's High Commissioner to India, Lindy Cameron, along with other officials.
"General Anil Chauhan, CDS, met Air Chief Marshal Sir Harvey Smyth, reinforcing the robust India–UK Defence Partnership. The exchange of instructors remains a vital pillar of our bilateral cooperation, complemented by significant advancements in Defence Intelligence collaboration," stated the Headquarters of Integrated Defence Staff on X.
Further, the CDS commended the successful conduct of the 17th Military Sub Group Meeting, expressing confidence in advancing a deeper, integrated, and future-ready Defence engagement.
On the previous day, Air Chief Marshal Sir Harvey Smyth, while on an official visit to India, met with Air Chief Marshal A P Singh, focusing on enhancing operational cooperation, interoperability, and strengthening air power relations.
