New Delhi, Feb 3 (NationPress) Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, expressed his enthusiasm on Tuesday regarding the landmark India-US trade agreement, emphasizing that this collaboration will unleash the potential of two significant democracies joining forces for the collective prosperity of their citizens.
He referred to the trade deal as a historic milestone in the bilateral relations between the two countries.
In a message on X, Goyal stated, "Kudos to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and President Donald Trump, as well as the citizens of India and the United States, for this historic trade accord. It showcases the strength of two like-minded, fair-trading democracies collaborating for their shared prosperity."
He expressed his appreciation for Prime Minister Modi and President Trump for their visionary and decisive leadership and unwavering commitment to enhancing India–US relations.
"This development harnesses the might of two extensive democracies collaborating for the betterment of their people. India and the US are natural partners, and our alliance will foster technological innovation, collaborative solutions, and efforts towards peace, growth, and a brighter future for both nations," the Union Minister stated.
Goyal highlighted that the trade deal will create unprecedented opportunities for farmers, MSMEs, entrepreneurs, and skilled laborers to Make in India for global markets, Design in India for the world, and Innovate in India for global outreach.
"It will facilitate India's access to technology from the US," he continued.
"This is more than just a trade agreement; it signifies a historic turning point that will redefine India–US relations and expedite our journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047," Goyal added.
Earlier on Monday, Trump revealed that a conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi led to the agreement, which includes reducing US tariffs on Indian goods to 18% and relaxing Indian trade barriers on US products.
Trump also mentioned that India would cease purchasing Russian oil and boost its imports of US energy, technology, and agricultural goods. He indicated that the agreement would bolster ties between the two nations and assist in efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
PM Modi also took to X to express, "It was wonderful to converse with my dear friend President Trump today. I am thrilled that Made in India products will now benefit from a reduced tariff of 18%. A big thank you to President Trump on behalf of 1.4 billion Indians for this fantastic announcement."
He noted that when two large economies and the world's largest democracies collaborate, it results in benefits for their citizens and opens up vast opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships.
Praising President Trump's leadership in promoting global peace, stability, and prosperity, the Prime Minister remarked, "India fully supports his initiatives for peace."
"I eagerly anticipate working closely with him to elevate our partnership to unprecedented levels," PM Modi concluded.
