Indore, April 4 (NationPress) In response to the ongoing nationwide LPG supply shortages due to global geopolitical issues, the administration of Indore district has decided to halt the distribution of commercial LPG cylinders as of Saturday. This measure is intended to secure consistent access to LPG for residential consumers.

The initiative is designed to preserve current supplies, directing them solely to fulfill the cooking requirements of local families.

This action is consistent with similar strategies adopted in various states to protect domestic supplies amidst decreasing imports and increasing demand.

M.L. Maru, the Food Supply Officer and Indore District Supply Controller, confirmed that while the commercial LPG supply is suspended, emergency provisions are still available.

Families lacking a domestic LPG connection, or those experiencing urgent shortages, can now request a small five-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder for temporary assistance.

Furthermore, Maru indicated that all processes related to KYC verification and the issuance of new LPG connections are on hold for one month.

"We are vigilantly observing the circumstances. The process for new connections will resume once the overall supply situation stabilizes," he stated.

Importantly, Subscription Vouchers (SVs) for new gas connections have not been made available on the platforms of the three principal oil marketing companies—Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL)—since the beginning of March.

However, gas agencies are still receiving applications, and KYC procedures for applicants are being processed through the portals.

Maru reassured that as soon as the oil companies recommence issuing SVs, qualified consumers will be notified to receive new connections.

To alleviate public inconveniences, the administration has instructed all LPG agencies and oil company representatives to ensure the immediate availability of 5-kg FTL cylinders.

Consumers interested in this service should contact their nearest agency without delay.

The district administration urges all users to utilize LPG responsibly and refrain from stockpiling.

"Responsible usage and public cooperation are key to maintaining a balanced supply system," officials emphasized.

This provisional arrangement is part of broader initiatives by both state and Central governments to prioritize domestic cooking fuel requirements during these challenging supply times.

The situation is under regular review, and normal operations are anticipated to resume as supply chains stabilize.
