New Delhi, Jan 30 (NationPress) The ‘Made in India’ Jimny 5-door made its debut in Japan on Thursday, representing the launch of the second-most exported model from Maruti Suzuki during FY 2024-25 in a significant market.

This Jimny 5-door is produced exclusively at Maruti Suzuki’s manufacturing plant in Gurugram, located near Delhi. It boasts a robust history as a global off-roader and is shipped to nearly 100 countries, as detailed in a company statement.

The arrival of this 4WD SUV in Japan signifies a crucial milestone in Maruti Suzuki’s export journey, becoming the second SUV after Fronx to be delivered to the home market of Suzuki Motor Corporation in FY 2024-25, according to the firm.

During the event, Maruti Suzuki managing director & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi remarked, "The launch of the ‘Made in India’ Jimny 5-door in Japan highlights the global excellence of our manufacturing capabilities. Following its impressive performance in regions such as Mexico, Australia, and South Africa, we are optimistic it will impress customers in Japan. The export of Jimny reinforces our dedication to ‘Make-in-India for the world’."

Suzuki has successfully sold over 3.5 million units of Jimny across 199 countries and regions. The 3-door variant of Jimny was previously available in the Japanese market. The introduction of the 5-door version is anticipated to enhance the model's popularity.

“With India serving as the production hub for Jimny 5-door, Suzuki aims to utilize Maruti Suzuki's global manufacturing prowess to meet the rising demand for this iconic off-roader brand,” stated the company.

Maruti Suzuki has established itself as India's top passenger vehicle exporter. In the calendar year 2024, the company has exported over 3.23 lakh vehicles to around 100 countries, capturing a 43.5 percent share of India's total passenger vehicle exports for 2024. Maruti Suzuki initiated the export of Fronx to Japan in August 2024, receiving a positive response in the marketplace.
