Ranchi, Oct 21 (NationPress) The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), currently leading the ruling coalition in Jharkhand, finds itself entirely sidelined in the Bihar Assembly elections.

This party, which requested 16 seats in Bihar as part of the Grand Alliance, was overlooked by the RJD and Congress leadership right up until the end, which has led to significant strain in their relationships.

The JMM officially declared its withdrawal from the Grand Alliance in Bihar on Diwali, causing speculation regarding the future of its partnerships with the RJD and Congress in Jharkhand.

Senior JMM leader and state minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu accused the RJD and Congress of “political betrayal,” stating, “We offered them a fair share in the Jharkhand Assembly elections. After forming the government, we even brought an RJD MLA into the cabinet. Despite this, they have disrespected us in Bihar. Their deceit is intolerable.”

Sonu’s comments have ignited discussions within political circles, with many suggesting that the grievances stemming from Bihar could influence the power dynamics in Jharkhand.

JMM spokesperson Manoj Kumar Pandey echoed these feelings, saying, "A sense of confusion has emerged that has left us perplexed. We did not wish to be excluded from the alliance and made every effort; however, our attempts were in vain. It is unfortunate that political deceit or broken trust has been directed at us, which could adversely affect the INDIA bloc."

Congress leader Rakesh Sinha remarked that the JMM deserves representation in the upcoming elections, but emphasized that the Congress should not bear the blame for the current situation.

In an interview with IANS, Sinha stated, "The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is a natural ally and should rightfully receive seats in Bihar. However, the reasons behind the current circumstances can only be clarified by the leadership of the RJD or the JMM. Discussions occurred, and two representatives from here participated in the talks. What transpired in Bihar remains unclear, but the JMM should have been awarded seats in Bihar."

Political analysts believe this incident has deeply affected the JMM leadership, although Chief Minister Hemant Soren, known for his political acumen, is not expected to make any rash moves that could jeopardize the government.

Experts propose that the JMM may take a measured approach—potentially removing the RJD Minister from the cabinet as a sign of discontent—while stopping short of completely severing the alliance.

The JMM lacks the numbers to govern independently in Jharkhand. Even if it parts ways with the RJD, it will still require the support of Congress. If Hemant Soren chooses to act independently later, he may first seek to gain the backing of Congress and RJD MLAs to secure a majority.

“He’s a seasoned strategist and will only act after thoroughly evaluating the political landscape,” noted a senior political analyst.

Experts anticipate that Hemant Soren will closely monitor the outcomes of the Bihar elections and the shifting political climate before making any decisive moves—likely after November.
